Founded by Barry Lapointe in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, KF Aerospace celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2020.
KF Aerospace is Canada’s largest commercial aviation maintenance, repair, overhaul and modification (MRO) provider. With a workforce of over 900 highly skilled employees, KF’s multi-faceted business operations include first-class engineering and design services, commercial aircraft leasing and decades of experience as a commercial cargo carrier.
KF Aerospace also has a long history of supporting and working with the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). KF was granted full recognition as a Design Approval Organization (DAO) by the Department of National Defence in 2013 and holds a Fixed-Wing Search and Rescue (FWSAR) maintenance contract with the RCAF.
KF Aerospace has four operational locations in Canada. KF’s main office and primary operational facility is located at the Kelowna International Airport in Kelowna, British Columbia. Two additional maintenance and repair services facilities are located in Vancouver, BC, and Hamilton, ON, with the latter currently undergoing a major facility expansion.
At the Southport Airport near Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, KF Aerospace supports RCAF pilot training through the Contracted Flying Training and Support (CFTS) Program.
KF Aerospace was awarded the CFTS program contract in 2005, leading a group of subcontractors collectively called Allied Wings and establishing a turn-key operation with new facilities, courseware and aircraft.
Today, KF provides pilot training and in-service support services for the Royal Canadian Air Force at Southport. The KF and Allied Wings staff there draw high praise from the military and consistently achieve performance scores well above 90%.
Several key Allied Wings partners will join KF in SkyAlyne’s bid for Future Aircrew Training (FAcT).
