SkyAlyne is proud to announce support for the Vintage Wings of Canada Foundation in helping to create unique educational flight opportunities that connect Canada’s military aviation heritage, and helping to inspire the next generation of Canadian aviators.
Through the Vintage Wings, Yellow Wings program, funding is being provided that will provide young Canadians the opportunity to experience flight aboard historic Second World War training aircraft. The initiative reflects a shared commitment between SkyAlyne and Vintage Wings to preserving Canada’s aviation history while inspiring future generations to explore opportunities in aviation, aerospace, and defence.
As the prime contractor responsible for delivering the RCAF’s Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) program, SkyAlyne is helping prepare the next generation of Canadian military pilots, Air Combat Systems Officers (ACSO) and Airborne Electronic Sensor Operators (AES Ops). The Vintage Wings of Canada Foundation preserves and shares the aircraft, stories and experiences that helped establish Canada as a global leader in military aircrew training, providing a unique opportunity to connect the past with the future of military aviation. By celebrating Canada’s rich aviation history and showcasing the future of military aviation, SkyAlyne and Vintage Wings of Canada aim to inspire future generations to explore careers in aviation and aerospace, in the service of Canada.
Canada’s reputation for excellence in military aircrew training was established through the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCATP), which trained more than 130,000 Allied aircrew during the Second World War. Aircraft such as the Fleet Finch, Fairchild Cornell and North American Harvard became symbols of that achievement. These aircraft continue to fly today through the Foundation’s commitment to preserving Canada’s aviation heritage.
More than eight decades after the BCATP, the FAcT Program builds on Canada’s legacy by delivering a modern, integrated training system that equips today’s RCAF aircrew with the knowledge, skills and experience required for future operational success.
The initiative also supports a shared commitment to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education. By connecting young Canadians with historic aircraft and the stories behind them, these educational flights provide a unique opportunity to explore the evolution of aviation technology while highlighting the innovation that continues to shape Canada’s aerospace and defence industries.
Through the Yellow Wings program, SkyAlyne is supporting the preservation of Canada’s aviation legacy and supporting the core mission of the Vintage Wings of Canada Foundation: educating the public on Canadian aviation history, commemorating our Veterans, and encouraging the next generation of aviators, engineers and aerospace professionals to reach for the skies.
