RCAF Foundation and SkyAlyne announce Indigenous Scholarship program

May 7, 2026 // Ottawa, ON — SkyAlyne and the RCAF Foundation are proud to announce new scholarships in support of Indigenous students pursuing post-secondary education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

The 10 SkyAlyne-sponsored scholarships, each valued at $1,000, will support First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students who are either from, or studying in, geographic areas near SkyAlyne’s Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) program sites, including Moose Jaw, SK, Southport, MB, and Winnipeg, MB, and SkyAlyne’s headquarters in Ottawa, ON.

This initiative marks a shared commitment by SkyAlyne and the RCAF Foundation to foster greater inclusion and representation in STEM fields, while investing in the next generation of talent within communities connected to the Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) program ecosystem.

“SkyAlyne is proud to sponsor Indigenous students pursuing STEM education,” said Kevin Lemke, General Manager of SkyAlyne. “We recognize the importance of creating opportunities that empower students in the communities where we live and operate, and we are committed to helping build pathways that can turn into meaningful and impactful career opportunities. The long-term nature of the FAcT program enables us to make meaningful contributions to skills development and foster capacity building.”

The scholarships will help reduce financial barriers for Indigenous students and encourage participation in STEM disciplines, which are critical to improve Canada’s innovation and defence sectors – and specifically programs like FAcT.

“Now in its fifth year, the RCAF Foundation is privileged to support students in meaningful ways, providing more than 500 scholarships to help remove barriers and open doors to opportunity,” said Jeremy Diamond, Founding CEO of the RCAF Foundation. “We are deeply grateful to our partners and supporters who make this impact possible, and we remain committed to helping the next generation take flight towards their goals.”

Eligible applicants must:

  • Identify as Indigenous,
  • Be enrolled in, or accepted to, a recognized post-secondary institution in a STEM-related program
  • Preference will be given to students with strong ties to the Moose Jaw, Southport, Winnipeg, and Ottawa areas.

The RCAF Foundation Scholarship Program supports the next generation of leaders in aviation, aerospace, and STEM fields by providing financial support to reduce barriers to entry. It aims to inspire young Canadians while strengthening the talent pipeline for Canada’s aviation sector.
